Objectification.

I believe that there is a form objectification that everyone has about someone. They might look at their face first, their body, their eyes, their feet, their wardrobe, it is a way to objectify someone. In today’s world we see the videos that exploit woman in a bad way and sometimes in a good way. For example in Ne-yo video Miss Independent it shows an independent woman who does not depend on a man to do things for her. In the video the woman is the CEO of a company and Ne-yo expresses that he likes woman who can do for themselves. Video exploit woman in a bad way in the Nelly video named tip drill. In his video his has woman walking around half naked shaking what their mother gave them. The woman in the video allows producers to video record their body.

The only thing that I don't understand is why do females get made when they are objectified when they are the ones who allow it. Woman who don't like objectification should speak out about it instead of sitting back and watching it take place. I believe that if woman as a whole speak out about woman objectification than changes will will come. I dont think its nothing wrong with objectification because everyone does it. It depends on what kind it is.

I know that I have my own preference in females. It is always better too look at a females personality rather than looking at what you can get from her. When woman walk around with small pants on its kind of like a sign that says, "Hey look what i got,". Woman like this look for a level of self esteem. They look for an identity or a symbol that represents them. They want to have a bad identity rather than an identity that say I am a well educated woman that can do for myself with no ones help. This is what really should symbolize a woman.

People in Washington Dc, wonder why we have the highest rate in AIDS and HIV. We have woman that walk around and have no respects for what they have. They don't cherish what GOD have given them and that he believes you should save that moment until you get married.

Post Racism

One time while coming from football practice, my fellow teammates and I wanted to go to get something to eat after practice. We decided to go to the 7-11 down the street from our school. When we arrived the store was busy that day, having many people walking in and out. When my group of friends and I walked into the store all eyes went on us not because we entered the inappropriately, not because we were using profanity, but because we were a young group of boys entering the store on an afternoon day
While walking in my friends and I went to get what we wanted so that we can go back to the front. I finished getting my stuff before them because they were taking to long to get what they wanted. When I walked to the front of the store I seen the cashier lady looks at her co-worker and gave him an eye that told him to go to the back and make sure my friends wasn’t stealing anything. While my friends are still figuring out what they wanted I purchased my stuff and went to the back to check on them. When I went back there I put my things in my book bag and the man that work there said, “A young man what are you doing?” I replied, “What are you talking about I purchased this.” He said,” When?” I replied, “Just now the receipt right here.” After I showed him he was lost and didn’t have anything to say. He continued to follow my friends and out of all the people in the store at that point he just had to continue to follow my fiends. After my friends and I was ready to leave out another group of boys was walking in, but instead they were a group of white boys coming from soccer practice. When they walk in I didn’t see the cashier give her co-worker the eye like she did when she seen us. Still looking I seen one of the boys put a Gatorade in his bag without of paying. I thought to myself well wow just because my friends and are were African American we were followed around the store because you thought we were going to steal but because the other group was white you didn’t think they would steal.
Actually being in that situation made me think that this is always how it’s going to be and it will never change and it will always be like this. But this is the country that says we all are one and everyone is equal. I have yet to see this country prove and show what our constitution says. What martin Luther King said he wanted to happen have not happen but we are in a world were the odds are against African Americans. But for me I won’t let that stop who I will be. I will fight through the odds that are against me and to prove to those that doubt me that I am better than what they think I am. I am determined and just to prove them wrong will help me continue my determination.

Empowerment

Empowerment to me means to have the power within yourself to do something. It is a determination that you have to accomplish a goal or complete a task.
I believe that I have alot of empowerment because some of the things that I have over came. I didnt allow the obstacles that I face to set me back from my goal. I started having this mind set when I read "The Narrative of Frederick Douglass".

He said that slaves were content and was satisfied with being a slave. During this year in time young people become content and nout focus on school. I refuse to be content. I want to achieve more as a young African American.Young African Americans males my age would rather be on the street selling drugs instead of using that same determination into increasing there education. My peers are having unprotected sex and having babies at a young age and we wonder why older people say, “I don’t know what’s wrong with you teenagers these days.” Older people in this generation haven’t forgotten about the people who have walked many miles just so that we can get the same text book as a white student. And what do my peers do? My peers write in them marking profanity. I want my ancestors to know that I haven’t forgotten how far they came since chains and whips.

My path is different from other males in my generation because I have a mother that wants the best for me and pushes me to desire more in life. Because she has instilled this into my life I am determined to continue to this goal. I don’t think enough parents are in their children’s lives but yet they are disgusted with the choices they choose. I am glad that my mother is hard on me because I refuse to be another statistic. My mother is the foundation to my future and when it becomes time that I leave her household and be on my own she will be taken care and wont have to worry about nothing. I know that I don’t owe this to her but it is in my best interest that I do as my mother did for me.My mother has prepared me for the real world. She has disciplined me and taught me to make decisions that I will not regret in the future. From my mothers teachings I will be successful in the real world. I will have a job and pay my own rent in my home and not have to call and ask my mother for help or some assistance.
